why was i so cringey?

Over the last week I have been giggling away at my old posts that have come up on timehop. This week has been a little stressful to say the least and as it comes up to the end of the semester / end of the year I’m sure a lot of you are feeling the pressure too. So I’ve collated some of my favourite timehop gems for your reading pleasure.

monday

2015: “Question: how do you listen to Adele without becoming a sobbing mess?”

this question still stands.

wednesday

2009: “I’m missing Jeward 😥 john or edward? who do you prefer? xx”

i was asking the hard hitting questions back in the day

friday

2012: “o wOw, my head hurts a lOt a lOt a lOt {stupid stupid wine}”

i have so many questions about this one.

  1. i probably had one glass of wine so why am i being so dramatic?
  2. why on earth am i capitalizing letters in the middle of words?
  3. what kind of weird brackets am i using?
  4. why was i so incredibly cringey?

2011: “get out of my head & fall into my arms instead”

am i quoting a one direction song or was i just getting really cryptic and deep on twitter?

saturday

2009: “opera was sooo bloody funny. hehehe 😀 what idiots ;P xx”

not entirely sure why the opera was funny (?!) but ahh the days before emojis

sunday

2011: “woken up in the early hours of the morning by a cow in our drive…standard :’)”

i remember this so clearly – still unsure if i was dreaming.

that’s all for this week, i hope you enjoyed my weird statuses and tweets from years past.

week in pictures #4

I’m pretty sure the last time I did one of these posts it was January so it definitely felt like one of these was overdue!

check ya boobs!

I am part of my university’s boob team that works with CoppaFeel to raise awareness about breast cancer in young people. This week we painted people’s nails in the SU whilst chatting about the importance of knowing  & checking your boobs.

productive days

On wednesday I spent the whole day in the library getting various bits and pieces done for essays, my diss. and a few other things I am working on (oo mysterious). When lunch time rolled around it only felt right to treat myself to a nice lunch rather than the apple and belvita bar I had stashed in my bag.

wip
for those interested i had a green smoothie and a brie&chutney toastie

isabella’s book

I have very few words that will do this book justice. At 20 years old, Isabella has written and self-published a book filled with beautiful words that I think all young women should read. Find out more about the book here

flowers for no reason

My housemate came home with roses for me. When I asked why she said “just because”. I’m all about lady love – build up your fellow females. Buy flowers for the ladies in your life.

glitter parties

One of my friend’s recently turned 22 so we threw a load of glitter on our bodies and had a little party.

the night trump became the president

As a person who studies American history I was of course fascinated by the election campaign that has been a focal point in the media for the past god knows how long (it feels like forever). Students at my university organised an event in which we all went to a local pub to watch the results come in whilst eating american themed food and probably drinking a glass of wine.

The plan was to go for a few hours, feel pretty confident about Hillary’s win and go home in the knowledge we would wake up in a world that wasn’t in ruins. However, this obviously did not happen.

We stayed at the pub until about 3am when Florida, Ohio and North Carolina had not yet come in. The atmosphere had generally been pro-Hillary with a few straight white males thinking it would be funny to shout ‘trump trump trump’ in between sips of cheap beer (for the record, it wasn’t funny it was just highly irritating and offensive to everyone else there). There was a collective booing when Nigel Farage showed his face on the BBC coverage and collective cheering when Hillary won a state. At the time we left things looked uncertain but we still had hope. We chatted about how great our seminar in women’s history would be on monday in the taxi back and then said our farewells.

When my boyfriend and I got back home we watched the coverage for another hour or so and still Ohio, Florida and North Carolina were too close to call. We decided to call it a night and although I felt uncertain I still didn’t think it would happen.

I was woken by my boyfriend’s voice saying ‘Soph, it’s not good news’. I thought he was joking. I could not fathom that a completely unqualified, alleged sex offender, racist, homophobic idiot had been elected.

After that I sat worrying about my friends across the pond. 99% of the people that I am friends with in the states are POC, LGBTQ, female and bloody amazing. I feared for their safety. I feared for the preservation of decency, understanding, kindness, freedom and everything else that is obviously not what Trump stands for.

I have the utmost respect for the gracious way Hillary has handled the defeat which unfortunately only rubs salt in an already open and bloody wound.

I obviously cannot add much to the conversation that hasn’t already been said so I’m going to leave a few articles here for you to read:

Leicester is heartbroken: Here’s how you reacted to Trump being president

insta~love #4

I have been away from my blog for far too long! I know it’s only been 2/3 weeks but I have really missed creating content. However, being in final year means lots of my time needs to be dedicated to essays, dissertation research and seminar reading which, as you can imagine, has left me with little brain capacity to create anything interesting for  completelyrambling. Nevertheless, I am back with one of my favourite features – insta~love!

@theegglife

This account is a fairly recent follow of mine but I am head over heels in love with the autumnal vibes it’s got going on. If you follow me on any social media you will know how much I have been banging on about autumn this year so this seemed like the perfect one to feature. I actually messaged Sarah, owner of theegglife to see if she was happy with me using some pictures and I got such a friendly reply – making me love her account even more!

@verityabb

Okay so I may be a little bias here because V is my little vintage babe BUT that doesn’t take away from the fact that her instagram is absolutely amazing anyway. She’s back from New York now but I know she will be posting #throwbackthursdays until she is reunited with her love so don’t worry about that. Until then a lot of her posts will probably be pictures of our coffee dates that we insist are totally necessary.

@nycbambi

I’ve been a fan of Christie’s blog for a while now and I love the vibe of her feed. Her insta is filled with outfit and apartment inspo as well as beautiful shots of the little hidden corners of NYC. She also writes pieces for my all time favourite blog – The Messy Heads.

@imiimace

Imii’s blog is always the first I read when I log on to Bloglovin’ and her instagram feed is equally gorgeous. I’ve been trying to avoid using the word aesthetic in this post but I can’t help it when I love Imii’s so much!

fav posts from my own insta – @completelyrambling

As I mentioned earlier, my brain has been on autumnal overload during the course of October. Therefore, my feed has been brimming with leaves, coffee shops & that sweet autumnal sunshine.

thanks for reading little human beans, enjoy your week
